Depends on your style and Itinerary.
What you want to do and where you want to go ?
Thai food is cheap and travelling to tourist destinations is also cheap.
You can get decent accomadation from 500 Baht a night but you can get a room for as little as 300 baht a night.
Food can cost as little as 40 Baht a meal but budget for at least 300 baht a day on food- western resturants 500 – 1000 Baht a meal.

Phuket and samui are expensive places to visit.

If someone asked me who had never been to thailand before this question i would tell them budget for 5000 baht a day and you will be able to do everything you want to.
You could easily still have a good time on 3000 baht a day but you wont be doing so many trips.
